Charleston Ark

2008, 3rd-Year Undergraduate Architecture Studio

Under professor Peter Laurence. My proposal for a hurricane relief center turned out to be a boat rather than a building. The Charleston Ark was biologically inspired, as its major structure resembled the spine and ribs of a sea creature. This was my first design to incorporate parametric modeling using Grasshopper. The critics mostly thought that this project was totally absurd, and the renderings lacked scale figures or any hint of life, but nonetheless the design was well received for its weirdness, and the physical model floated around for years and became known as "the fish".
